FAQ:
Q: How is the NMPN different from the NM Prevention Advocates?
We see ourselves independent of, yet as a close partner of the Prevention Advocates. The Prevention Advocates current membership, although open to all, consists of mainly DOH/OSAP Contractors.

The NMPN currently has members from not only OSAP but DFA/Local DWI Programs, Teen Courts and other prevention entities not currently participating in the NM Advocates group. Furthermore, we have the services of the Prevention Research Expert Panel (PREP)which is unique to the NMPN.

Q: How often do you meet?
Currently we meet four times a year with our Executive Board meeting six times a year.

Q: What are your goals?
Our goals are:
~ Provide technical assistance to the prevention community.
~ Provide technical analysis and recommendations to the validity and implementation fidelity of ATOD prevention programs in NM.
~ Provide trainings and report on national advances in the field of ATOD prevention.
~ Provide a forum for information sharing.
~ Provide opportunities for statewide resource sharing.
~ Provide a system for policy development and recommendations to the NM Legislature.
~ Provide a system for valid, impartial and scientifically defensible prevention principles, practices and internal/external evaluation of the prevention field.
