September 1, 2008, the New Mexico Prevention Network (NMPN) has reached its two-year anniversary! Collectively and united we have made great strides; none more important than creating a cohesive and influential prevention community of motivated, passionate and highly driven individuals and organizations that have a single voice and commitment of making a difference in the lives of New Mexicans and especially our youth.

Your/our accomplishments to date:
~ 80 Members & 40 Organizations Strong.
~ Creation of Prevention Research Expert Panel (PREP).
~ POP-NET Yahoo Resource Network; access to comprehensive prevention resources 24/7/365.
~ 3-5 year NMPN Strategic Prevention Plan.
~ Widely & strategically distributed NMPN monthly Newsletter.
~ Increased influence & credibility with many State Agencies.
~ Professional development, collective expertise & TA.
~ The Prevention "MATRIX".
~ Trainings & Support for Certification.
~ Strong collaboration & relationship building statewide.

Moving forward, moving up to the next level:
Some of the new and exciting projects in the works are a brand new Website and an annual statewide prevention conference and we have proudly accomplished one of these projects, which is our own, user friendly website.

Also, given the structure of our organization; an independent non-profit entity with operational needs critical in continuing all the great work that has already occurred; we need to make some improvements/changes moving forward:
~ Annual individual membership dues are now $50
~ Annual organization dues are now $200 (regardless of size)
~ In order to ensure fairness across the board we will only allow access to the POP-net resources site to paid members and paid organizations. " All the current members that have not paid their membership dues will have 60-days from September 1, 2008 to pay their annual fee.
To be fair, only paid members after this sixty-day grace period will have access to all the resources on this website member's login..

However, membership has its privileges:
~ Includes access to our massive prevention library continuously updated with 24/7 accessibility.
~ Includes access to "Envision Your Future" evidence-based curriculums.
~ Includes Gold embossed membership certificate.
~ Includes a beautiful ("You Make a World of Difference") brass lapel pin.
~ Includes IC&RC Prevention Certification Exam book.
~ Includes access to the "MATRIX".
~ Includes access to the NMPN Prevention Research Panel.
~ Includes access to technical assistance and resource sharing.
~ Includes access to technical assistance towards Prevention Certification.
~ Includes access to our monthly newsletter.
~ Includes access to having your program highlights included in our widely distributed monthly newsletter.

We hope you are as excited as we are about the future of prevention in New Mexico. We have come a long way and there is much more to be done.
Together as one voice, one force, one commitment, one unity, one movement, we can move forward and make big things happen. As always, we truly appreciate your support and commitment in making NM a better, healthier place to live in and be proud of.

Sincerely, Christopher K. Lucero, Chairman
